You may or not be aware that AMTRAK have gone into liquidation, this will result in a delay in the collection and delivery of racing pigeons throughout the UK.
We are a courier company based in North Wales, we cover the whole of the UK mainland, daily and North and Southern Ireland and mainland Europe regularly.
We have been operating for a number of years and although we were once an Amtrak hub for a while, our standards are High! We are not connected with any other company in North Wales with a similar name.
Having moved pigeons in the past we are experienced and competent in this field. We can supply transport boxes if needed and can collect Monday to Thursday and deliver Monday to Friday. Collections and deliveries outside these times can be arranged. Post code areas PA; KW; IV; HS can be arranged on an individual basis.
Pigeons are not placed in Trucks, nor placed on conveyer belts. They are always handled with care and are all treated as you would expect them to be treated. We have pigeon racing enthusiasts on our Staff and can deal with longer term housing or other problems.
Our drivers will contact the collection or delivery address 30 minutes prior to arriving so that the bird does not need to be kept in a transit box for too long. When you phone J Cooper Logistics you will speak to people that will know where your bird is, and can track the vehicle that it is in. You will not be put in touch with a customer care centre with no idea of what is going on. Our company slogan is "Making your delivery our priority" We pride ourselves on the level of service that we provide from start to finish.
Prices:
Up to 4 pigeons £35.00. £2.50 for each bird over 4.
Discounts can be arranged for clubs; breeders and regular customers.
In addition to pigeons we can also collect and deliver anything that will fit into a transit size van. So if you are considering buying something from internet auction sites or from somewhere distant, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Our details can be found on our web site: jcooperlogistics.co.uk

May I also highlight that it is an offence to kill a racing pigeon (with purpose).
I.E. Unless you own the bird, it is unlawful to do just this. £1000 fine if found guilty.
Killing street pigeons should be done purposely and by qualified vermine controllers. A mass cull would sincerely infringe these rights and cause mass desamation throughout the racing fraternity.
Signed: The Fancier.........

From a Pigeon Fanciers Point of View!
In response to an article that featured on the front page of last weeks “Echo” I immediately phoned and spoke to the editor to express my concerns over the ignorance of the opening paragraph. The initial headline of the prospect of a Pigeon Awareness day seemed applaud-able. Unfortunately when reading the article fully I quickly realised it was in fact just another jibe at the feral or street pigeons that are causing problems around our town. Firstly can I make it clear to all, as a pigeon fancier myself I am fully in support of controlling the amount of street pigeons as they are as much as a menace to the homing societies and pigeon racing clubs as they are to the members of the public. But secondly and most importantly can I make it clear that the difference in the street pigeons and our racing pigeons is vast. I would use the example of a stray dog and a pedigree champion. This is the fact of the matter. Racing pigeons are bred and trained to be pedigree athletes, some capable of flying 500 miles and more. Pigeon fanciers like myself can spend thousands of pounds to compete at a high level in this unfortunately dying sport. Hipperholme & District homing society based in Brighouse, not only enjoy racing pigeons, but also raise lots of money for local charities. Every year we hold our annual charity race which alone raises hundreds of pounds. For the last few seasons we have featured in the “Echo” handing over cheques to the Overgate hospice from raising money from various events over the calendar year. The Pigeon awareness day is needed to remind and give people a better understanding of these amazing birds. During World War II Pigeons received more awards than any other animal for bravery and service. Bringing back messages from soldiers on enemy territory, theses birds saved lives, and that is a fact. Also The R.P.R.A (Royal Pigeon Racing Association) patron is H.R.H Queen Elizabeth II.(who also has a royal loft). So I think I have justified and given enough very brief evidence to show that although to the un trained eye they might look a like, the street pigeons and racing pigeons are in fact worlds apart.
To help the council deal with the “street” pigeon problem, I strongly suggest that they contact local pigeon clubs and arrange a meeting with it’s members to listen to suggestions on how to control the problem. After all, we deal with similar pigeons every day. Some of the suggestions printed in last weeks article can only be described as ludicrous. Coun Stephen Baines who suggested “releasing sparrow hawks each morning” I think he really must do more research. Not only are sparrow hawks becoming uncontrollable, it is because of these birds of pray we are losing the garden song birds. It again is a fact that blue tits, sparrows, and other garden birds are becoming less and less because of the over population of these hawks. Not only that, but will Councillor Baines be on hand to instruct his fleet of hawks to not attack our racing pigeons, and make sure they just get the street birds? I’m sure the before mentioned meeting would be a benefit to the council in assisting to clear up the “street” pigeon problem, and then who knows the “bird-brained” scheme, as described by Mrs Jean Trotter may actually turn out to be a feather in the cap for someone.
